🚐 The experience: This peaceful, safe van camping spot is ideal for travelers looking for a calm place to park and rest. Located in a quiet area away from the crowds. Spots are suitable for vans, camper vans, and small RVs.
The area is secure and welcoming, with minimal activity after dark and clear access in and out. Perfect for self-contained campers who appreciate simplicity, privacy, and a no-stress overnight stop. A simple, safe place to rest and reset without worrying about the dreaded knock.
The surroundings are low-key and respectful, making it easy to settle in, relax, and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
The property has a gorgeous old oak tree creating a canopy and shade for part of the parking area. The other spaces have more sun and some smaller oaks or palm trees creating shady areas.

🏝 The experience: Enjoy an overnight camping experience on our private 2-acre island in the Gulf. Sundown Republic Island is perfectly situated for great views of both sunrise and sundown over the water.
Create your own outdoor camping adventure: Kayak or transportation by boat, camp in a hammock or tent. Use our equipment or yours. The island is primitive camping.
🐬 Adventure guests frequently see dolphin, saltwater fish, marine birds, eagles and even an elusive otter.
⛺️ What’s included in the rental package: Kayak and paddling equipment, hammock, bug net, drop-off and pick-up service from a local beach area. Park at our mainland property. Transportation to the island by boat is also available.

Primitive camping—often called dispersed, backcountry, or wild camping—is the practice of camping in remote, undeveloped areas without modern amenities like running water, electricity, or restroom facilities. It requires campers to be entirely self-sufficient, packing in all their gear, food, and water while strictly adhering to Leave No Trace principles. (As defined by Reserve America.)
The island and mainland have designated camping spaces.

On the island, yes! Campfires are allowed in designated areas only. These areas are clearly marked. Tree or branch cutting is not permitted.
On the mainland, no. Self-contained grills are allowed.
*All adventure guests must adhere to the Levy County fire bans if enacted.

Yes! Adventure guests may park at the mainland property. This is the safest place for your vehicle overnight.

Yes, there is cell service on the island! However, cell service can be spotty on the water getting to the island. We suggest downloading an offline map of the area.

Absolutely! If you have a self-contained camper van, camping vehicle, or small RV book a mainland site with your overnight at the island. Adventure guests can stay before and/or after their island excursion.

We understand that not everyone is as into camping as us. Local inns, hotels, motels and rental homes are available nearby. Contact us for locally owned recommendations.

In case of an emergency call 911. The 911 operator will assess the options and dispatches necessary emergency services, including the U.S. Coast Guard, FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission), local fire/rescue or local police.
If possible, and when it’s appropriate, please contact us at the phone number provided in your rental agreement to advise us of the situation.

Camp fire must be in the fire ring (Must abide by any county issued fire ban)
