Florida is full of wildlife and Sundown Republic island is no different. We regularly see dolphin, several crab species, many bird species such as spoonbills, herons, ibises, swallowtails, ospreys, eagles and much more.
In the river we’ve seen manatees, loads of fish, water snakes and alligators. They call us the Nature Coast for a reason!
Reminder: Florida has insects all the time and some of them bite or sting. Bug spray (and sunscreen) is a useful tool all the time in Florida, no matter the season.

Camping Questions
-
Primitive camping—often called dispersed, backcountry, or wild camping—is the practice of camping in remote, undeveloped areas without modern amenities like running water, electricity, or restroom facilities. The island and mainland have designated camping spaces.
